Alquerplus Doxiciclina 15% is a semisynthetic fat-soluble tetracycline with a broad spectrum of action.
Oral solution
Indications: recommended for the treatment of respiratory and digestive infections in birds (CRD, colibacillosis, arthritis, nephritis, pneumonia and diarrhea).
Main features:
- Broad spectrum of action: it is effective against a broad range of bacteria, such as Pasteurella, Salmonella, Streptococcus, Mycoplasma, Actinobacillus, Corynebacterium, E. coli, Stpahylococcus, Clostridium, Chlamydia and Lysteria; also, against protozoa such as Giardia, among others.
- No interferences with calcium metabolism: it can be administered to young animals because it does not bind calcium.
- Organic stable solution: doxycycline is a semi-synthetic fat-soluble tetracycline that is highly absorbed in the gut (80-90%) and has a long persistence in the organisms because it binds to plasma proteins.
- Highly concentrated oral solution (15%).
Species: poultry and pigs.
Administration: orally, in drinking water. In both species, the treatment should be administered every 12 hours during 3 weeks.
Dose rates:
- Birds:15 – 0.30 ml/liter of drinking water, which is equal to 25-50 mg of doxycycline hyclate (active principle) per ml of water.
- Pigs: 3 ml/50 kg of live weight in drinking water, which is equal to 10 mg of doxycycline hyclate (active principle) per kg of live weight.
Withdrawal period:
- 7 days (meat).
- Do not administer to animals producing eggs or milk for human consumption.
Special warnings: do not administer to animals allergic to tetracyclines or animals producing eggs or milk for human consumption. Do not administer together with penicillin, cephalosporins, quinolones and cycloserine.
